Merry Christmas week!

Hi there,
It was so weird to see that family at the gas station. we are actually teaching 4 people who work at that station. Any way it was really cool cuz she asked me where i was from, and i to her, and then i asked her if she new sam and they were like ya. and then they asked what your name was and then she recognized who you were and who i was and then it clicked that i went to vegas with them and it was just a lot of fun. i forgot my camera today. Its at the apartment but I have a picture with them. Ill show you next monday. So we get christmas eve and christmas off. and yes I'll be calling around 10:00 am. Im so stoked. Its gonna be weird to hear ya'lls voices. So... Amackers are not getting baptized becasue they just arent ready. but we are setting a date on saturday but ill share that with ya'll on christmas. In due time! have a great couple of days and ill talk with ya'll soon. Love ya'll so much Merry Christmas.

Week of December 15th

Hi mom
Sorry so late on the email. We went to the oprymills mall today and it was so incredible. It is huge. This week has been really slow. We are doing a lot of finding because Me comp and his last comp didn't do anything the transfer before me so just picking up the slack-line. its been a lot of fun though. My comp is elder Treu, and he is from Orem Ut, went to timpanogos high, really hard to get along with but we are doing just fine. We are north and south pole. Sister Blackwells daughter is the cutest girl and i love their family.  So we are told only to hang out with members on christmas and investigators also. We are going over to the Probst family house to eat on christmas eve and then nothing planned for christmas day. Thanks so much for the package. I have one for ya'll i just need a few more things. ha ha its gonna be sweet. Its really cool to see how the meaning of christmas changes the more that you learn about Jesus Christ and what he has done for you. I love studying about Him. He is such an amazing example to me. So what's Hil up to? oh and parker? do they still exist? ha ha let them know i love them so very much. Its so weird i won't be a teenager anymore in less than a month! ha ha  Tell both sets of grandparents how much a love each of them and tells them thanks for the packages.  Well ya'll will probably get a letter today or tomorrow. Read it with the whole family please. Did dad get my card i sent him? well I'll keep you updated when something good happens. I love you mom from the bottom of my little heart. P.s. that is so cool about vegas and garth brooks.

Happy to be in Nashville!

The "Bat Building" (downtown Nashville)

Sister Buchanan (Clarksville)

The Blackwell Family (Clarksville)
Hey there!!!
Im so happy to be in Nashville. Im in the Heart of Nashville. Ill show you the pics in the second email. IM loving it here tho. There are so many miracles happening every day. Yesterday we had zone conference and it was such a good pump up session. This week is going to be amazing. So last night we had a really cool experience. We went to go see this lady Judy(such a nice lady).  Well we talked with her on her porch for about 7 minutes and the whole time we just talked about the atonement of Jesus Christ and that really hit her hard and she just broke down and started to cry. I love my ward here. It is a very very young ward. We have 5 different colleges in our boundaries and a big one is Vanderbilt and then there is Tennessee State and Lipscumb. Its such a good ward. Full of smart, rich business men who love to serve and get work done effeciently and effectively. We are gonna have great success this week and this month. For some reason im not getting home sick. Everyone says that they do. IDK (I don't know) but being on a mission during this time is the best thing in the world. I love it. IM glad that I get to email ya'll every week. but i will be calling around 11:00 am my time so 10:00 for ya'll if thats okay?  My comp is calling at 2:00 so ya. well i love yall so very much and dad have a wonderful birthday. Love elder schwendiman

Utah wins turkey bowl over the hicks!

Hey there family.
I don't have much time but i want to say that i am very thankful for ya'll and everything ya'll do for me. This thanksgiving was so weird without ya'll. IT just wasn't the same. We had two dinners, one right after the other. It was really nice. IN the morning we played in the turkey bowl. It was so sweet. I was QB and i threw 12 touchdowns and ran for 2, intercepted 2, and handed the ball off for 6. We so dominated the other team. I wore my Utah Shirt. It really helped out pretending i was alex smith for a little bit. ha ha. It was a really nice thanksgiving. How was ya'll's thanksgiving? okay so here is the big news that ya'll have been waiting for. I GET TRANSFERRED ON TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!1 im so excited. My new area is going to be Green Hills. What this means is that im in the wealthiest part of Tennessee. I have the mission home and the mission office. Brentwood and old Hickory. Im really excited to be there for christmas. and i also have down town nashville in my area. I get to go to the "Bat Building" and all those cool places. Im really happy to leave Clarksville. My new companion is going to be Elder Kyle Treu! he was in the MTC with me. He is from Orem UT and he is a cool kid. Im still the District Leader and i have two amazzing sisters in my district. Sisters Day and Thacker. Sister thacker was in the MTC with me also. But thats pretty much all thats going on at the moment... I love ya'll and hope ya'll had a good thanksgiving.

24 - 48!

Hey there family,
These past few days i have been studying a lot about the atonement, following the promptings of the spirit, and the gift of discernment! I read my patriarchal blessing the last couple nights and i was very humbled by it. There have been certain blessings promised to me, through my faithfulness the the covenants and promises i have made, and i will do my best to fullfil those promises and blessings. Well anyway the Amackers are getting baptized on Christmas Day!!! That is the day that they want it to happen. Im so excited for them. but sadly enough i think that i will be getting transferred. No matter where im at i will be able to come back and baptize them. So what do ya'll think about the UTAH byu game. ha ha that was nuts. We had a member text us what happened in the game. (yes its allowed) it was a really good game! okay so i haven't been with elder baker the last 5 days. He went up to Hopkinsville KY with one of the zone leaders and one of my favorite missionaries has been my companion the last week. Elder Baker has expressed no desire to work so i asked to go on exchanges and so far last week we taught 27 total lessons. ha ha it has been such a good week. So transfers are coming up. Next week and this saturday is when i find out if i move or not! i hope i do. But this week has been really good and i hope ya'll are having fun in Hawaii. Bring me back something cool, just no pictures. Thanksgiving is gonna be so much fun. We get to play in the turkey bowl in the morning and then i have 6 dinners every hour on the hour from noon to six. I might explode ha ha im really excited for it though. well i hope ya'll know im really thankful for ya. ya'll are amazing and ya'll do so much for me. Have a happy thanksgiving! Zone Conference!

Hey There,
This week has gone by really well. Its really weird to see how the week goes by once you have been out six months. The whole week seems like a blur. It was a really good week. Busy as ever. Our mission is trying to get 210 baptism between october and december. Its gonna be nuts. We are right on track for it. We are planning on having at least 85 baptisms this month and about a hundred next month. so pray for that will ya. So i got to meet a General authority yesterday at Zone Conference. Elder Darrell H. Garn of the second Quorem of the Seventy. So they randomly select missionaries to go up and give talks and i got chosen. I gave a 3 minute talk on praying with faith. I knew that they would call me. It has happened like 3 times. No biggie though. I gotta talk to his wife for about a half hour after the meeting. So i saw elder Rasmussen too. he is doing really well. He got me 5 new ties. That kid is krazy. OH and its his birthday tomorrow. He is such a good kid. His mom sent me a tiny package full of candy about a month ago. She is such a sweet lady. ha ha So i get to go to the temple tomorrow. Im so excited. Its been almost 6 months since i have gone. Back home i really took advantage of going to the temple. Its 2 hours away now and i only get to go 4 times in 2 years. but what can ya do. So everything is going good we are teaching 2 really good people. Melissa Trammell and Page Dickson. They both are so excited to read the book of mormon. So will ya'll pray for them please. Well so how is gas back home. Its only 1.79 here per gallon. Its still going down too. and yes that book of mormon idea is really good. I like it alot. well i love ya'll and dad i will make that money last. I don't want you to put anymore in my account. If i don't have it i wont spend it. I love you and hope ya'll have a good week.

It's getting so cold here!

Hey there family
I don't have a lot of time to write this week, i got invited to go play racquetball on post again so im gonna go play about 11:30. IT should be a good time. Im staying in shape very well. I work out every morning for a half hour. So ya getting knocked out was pretty nuts. im doing just fine now. Nothing is wrong with my head. It was just precautionary to go to the hospital. So thats funny mom about walking with ann. Its getting so cold here. Im really glad your smarter than me and sent out my coat. Im wearing that, a sweater and a scarf. Its FREEZING! ha ha i don't mind the cold except there is no snow to compensate for its freezingness. anyway my comp is really good, but by far the lazyest person ever. but he is getting better. being district leader is hard but fun. I get to train every week for 1 hour on whatever i choose to train on. its rough some weeks but this week im training on OBEDIENCE. Its so needed in my district. Im using D&C 58:1-7 its so good. I love studying in the mornings. Especially if i have a specific assignment. Im learning so much out here and i love it to death. iM a little burned out with clarksville, being out here almost six months but i will be leaving soon. Thats so not fair that ya'll are going to Hawaii without me. I don't wanna see any pictures from it Ok! and im serious that will get me off focus. thanx. but dad how was AZ. Thats where my comp is from. Gilbert AZ thats right outta Phoenix. Was it still really hot there. Im jealous of you. I wanna travel so bad. ha ha jk but thats good that you are getting in shape. Round is a shape right!? ha ha just playin with ya. Hilary im glad that your doing so well at Alta it still can't believe im saying that im glad to see you at alta. ouch that one hurt ha ha im happy for you and that decisions you are making. Its good to learn from 2 older mistake makers isn't it? well im just glad that your happy and thats all i really care about. well i love you family, ill keep you posted on any new exciting news.

Pictures of New "roadkill" contact and Baptism

Road kill minus the Rack!

HI!
Dad, I'm glad that you had a great weekend with the deer hunt. I contacted into a dead dear on the side of the road! it didn't have a head. See we saw it at night and it had a little rack on its head. We went to next morning and it didn't have a head. ha ha people in the south are crazy! Thats great alta is doing so well. Even though I don't have one good feeling towards alta. Im glad hilary is doing good with Alta. My new companion is from Gilbert Arizona and he has been out for 15 months. He is junior companion but I don't even see the need for a Senior comp or a junior comp. We are just missionaries. DL is gonna be fun but interesting with all the responsibility. It will be a blast.  The baptism went so well.  I got to baptize Jovanna Braddock on Saturday. It was so much fun. It kinda frustrates me when the ward doesn't show their support for the new converts. We had like 7 people there for the baptism. She is a sweetheart though.  We have another baptism set up for the 15th of November. Nina Williams is her name. She is awesome. We met her on Thursday and we set a date with her on Saturday. She has a really neat family too.
Next time you see Tanya and Jim tell them i love them and i hope they are doing well!  MOM i love you with all my heart and im greatful to be able to talk to you every week. Time is just flying by. AH 5 months tomorrow. Crazy. We get to watch Cars and Ratitouille, or however you spell it, for Halloween on friday. President approved it. ha ha have a good week.  P.S. how is your mom doing? Ill keep her in my prayers and same with g-pa S.

BYU goes down big...

Hi there!
So how is your week going. Mine has been going so so so good. We are having really good success here and we are getting a lot of work done. We have a baptism coming up on the 25th of october. Jovanna Braddock. She is such a sweetheart and she has made such a big change in her life. She is changing over from Catholic. That's a big change for her. We I have some crazy news to tell you. I'm not getting transferred yet. Elder Beech is gonna be a ZL down in Nashville so I get a new companion tomorrow. Elder Baker is his name. He has been out for 15 months and I'm gonna be the senior companion. I have also been given the privilege of taking over as the new District Leader in the area. Im in charge of 5 missionaries. Sister Williams, Sister Cordon, Elder Knaras, Elder Richardson, and Elder Baker. Its gonna be nuts. Im so excited though. It will be such a blast. Its really overwhelming though. Im gonna have to rely upon the Lord even more so now that I have responsibility. This transfer has gone by too too fast.

Im border-line pissed off about BYU. I guess TCU had more Jesus that game then BYU did. BYU had weak Faith. ha ha I can't believe they blew it. AH!! okay im over it.  I cut my hair last night. Its such a waist of money to get your hair cut professionally.  So enough about me. How are you doing? Everything going good? I know it is. I'm glad that you had fun down in St. George. and im glad that your doing good. I should get your package today. I love you so much and ill be sending pictures home real soon. After transfers i will. sorry i have been doing bad at that. Ill get better. Can you believe I have been out almost 5 months. Its going by too quick. There is far too much stuff to get done and nearly not enough time to do it. I love you so much and i hope you have a great up coming week.

Guess What?

Hi mom! so guess what...........I love you! and no i didn't get your email. This week has gone by really fast. We have gotten a lot of work done. This week went by way too fast. So I have some exciting news. Jenna Lake got baptized on saturday. It was one of the most spiritual things in have ever witnessed. She would not stop crying. She told me, that she wanted to have me baptize her. when she said that. The spirit hit me so hard. I love that feeling where the holy ghost bears a second witness that the church is true. I can't get enough of it. So are you getting ready for winter.? its gonna be a cold one? Its gonna get cold here in 2 months but it is still around the high 70's. but I won't need my coat for another couple weeks. Transfers are coming up next tuesday and I think I'm getting transferred.  But is there anything exciting going on at home besides Jesse? well i love you and hope everything is going well. God bless You mom. I love you and appreciate evry'thing you do for me. DID YOU GET MY PACKAGE!!!! ha ha it was so random? the car was from Elder Bytheway, the moracca was from Boswell, the watch was from beech and the pumpkin was from Sis. Blackwell. Conference was Awesome!

Hi mom!
Everything going good at home? Everything is so good out here. I had such a good weekend with conference. I so wish i woulda taken advantage of conference when i was a child. There is so much to be learned. I took 20 pages of notes back on front. I couldn't get enough of what was being said. We watched conference at the church. 1 outta 600 members get byu tv so we didn't get the luxary of watching it on a 110 in screen with comfortable captains chairs. I would hate to be a utah missionary!!!! ha ha JK.   Everything is going good with me and elder Beech. We are having a lot of fun and at the same time we are getting alot accomplished. We are having 2 baptisms this saturday. Jenna Lake and Jovanna Braddock. Its gonna be so nice. They both have come so far and have done a total 180 in their life. Thats why missionary work is so much fun. We get to see the eternal change in someone's life. Thats the blessing that comes from missionary work. The members are great out here.... kinda.  They have a really hard time getting pumped up about missionary work... they will be okay though. We are getting them pumped.  Thanks for the package.  Thank you for sending garments.  I really appreciate it.  I'll try on one pair and if they fit I'll keep them.  I should get it this week and will you call Grandma Maureen right now and tell her how much i love her and i really loved her package. She sent me pumpkin choco chip cookies. ha ha they were good.  So i promise im sending a tape home. We live a little ways from the post office but im trying.  Did you get my last letter?  I truly love you so much.  I hope you have a good week and thank you so much for Megans address. Ill write her this week. Alex allen wrote me too. I was so stoked to get that letter. Have an awesome week. Love Your missionary  Elder Schwendiman Jr.

The Famous Yellow Tie

Hop, Skip and a Jump

Hi mom, this week has been okay. Really long!!!!!!!! maybe thats an understatement.I cannot wait for conference to come. We are eating at o'charlies after on Saturday. I have a huge gut feeling that something gigantic is gonna go down and i think ya'll should take notes. This is gonna be one to remember forever! but the work is good. Mike webb got baptized by Elder Beech on Friday night and I got to confirm him on Sunday. That was my first confirmation. It was really exciting thats him in the picture. Not a whole lot has happened this week just the baptism. Im glad to hear how good everything went with the Ascend thing.  Thats so awesome. Did you get to meet Lavelle Edwards and if you got a pic with him send it here. Thats sweet that ya'll had good support. That trip over Christmas is gonna be fun. Are you going back to the same village or are you going to Guayaquil this time. I wish i could go but i got a few obligations at the moment ha ha. did you get my letter! i sent you a letter on Thursday. I really hope you got it. im trying to be much better on sending letters so that you get them on saturday's. I promise i will do much better. here is a yellow tie picture for you. sorry it took too long to get it to ya. all the guys are doing good. i still email with greg landan mitch trey and jeremy and ryan thats pretty much it at the moment. but i really do hope all is well! god bless and you will get a letter by friday or saturday. i promise. Hope you have a good week and tell the fam i love them. "Time is just taking a hop, skip, and a jump on by"

Could we please stop smoking?

Hi there Mom!
I love you so much. Im in such a good mood right now. This whole mission thing is the most incredible thing i have ever done in my whole life. I really haven't been this happy! Me and Elder Beech are having so much fun but at the same time we are getting so much accomplished. We are getting ready to set two more baptism dates this week and we already have two set. So last night i went over to the Amackers. I gave philip a blessing to give him the spirit of discernment. that he would know when he was being tempted to smoke. and then after that i have tiffany a blessing also. It was so amazing! i love that family. So we are setting a date with Jenna lake. She was the one that told us we were going to hell and all that crazy non sense. She has come to church 2 weeks in a row and she loves it so much. she just needs to stop smoking. pray for her especially. she is gonna need all the support she can get. So im starting to get a lot of scruff under my chin. i have to shave every morning. Its weird to have it but oh well. So we no longer have a car. we have to ride bikes full time. its really tiring but its so worth it. i love being on a mission. So we just had zone-conference. It was a lot of fun but there is gonna be a lot of things goin on in this mission here in the next couple weeks-months. but ill let you know what is going on. I love you so much. I really can't express it enough how much it means to me to have ya'll care and love for me and the support i get from ya'll. I truly appreciate it. I love you and have an incredible week.

Pics for the week

My district

My new companion Elder Beech!

Another Crazy week!

Hi there fam fam
So this week has been so crazy. As you know i have a new comp. Elder Beech. He is such a cool kid. We talk all the time about the people we hung out with. We used to hang out with the same kids but we never hung out. I have been to his house in pepperwood but i never talked to him before. So he is really a hard worker. A lot harder than elder rasmussen. I loved elder rasmussen, dont get me wrong but elder beech is incredible at missionary work. We have set two baptism dates this weekend. One on friday night and one on sunday night. It was a lot of fun. Mike webb is getting baptized this saturday and then Jovanna braddock is getting baptized on the 4th of October. So pray for them please. Tiffany is still doing good. I finally got them to sit down as a family and have scripture study and family prayer together. They really like it. We are going to set another date with all three of them this week. So pretty much we were biking around and we came up to these two girls who were like in the early 20's and we started talking to them and they were really mean to us and telling us we were going to hell and all this craZy non-sense. but we kept at them and they kept getting madder so we gave her a card and we left. We got a referral request that night for a jennifer Lake. So we went down to her street and right as we turned onto the street i knew it was the girl that we had talked to. And it was. We taught her the first lesson and about faith and she was like, " if i read that book of mormon(the whole thing) then i will come to church. Well i called her on sunday to see if she was coming and she was already on her way. Well she brought one of her member friends with her. IT was so good. but we are on full time bikes now. We don't get the privelage of driving anymore. SLC is cutting mission cost so we lost our car. but all is well in Zion and hope ya'll are having an incredible week. I love ya'll so much.

a GOOD WEEK!

Hi
well everything has been so good this week. We have been working really hard and been really busy. It seems like the busier I am the faster time seems to go by. I don’t like it. I want time to slow down. There is so much to get done but there are just not enough hours in a day to get it all accomplished. So this week We moved into a new apartment with another set of elders. Its so much fun. MY COMP IS GETTING TRANSFERRED and now he will be a ZL. Crazy huh. We are headed to Nashville tomorrow for transfers. Im excited. My new comp is gonna be elder BEECH. Crazy huh. Your gonna have to let bryce and Kenzie know. So amber was baptized yesterday. It was so amazing. She is so incredible. She was crying the whole time. When she was in the water and after she came straightway outta the water I heard a little voice in my head. It was the same thing that Heavenly Father said after Jesus Christ was baptized but it was a little different. This is what I heard. “This is my beloved Daughter, in whom I am well pleased.” That was one of the best feelings I have ever felt in my life. I knew that god was pleased with Elder Rasmussen and I, and with Amber. This work is so true. I love it with all my heart and there is nothing that could ever take away how I feel about this church. So today after emailing we are all going caving for the last activity as a District. Every companionship in the zone is getting changed up. But that is all that happened this week. Other than me getting jumped by Elder Bytheway and my comp. Look at this crazy picture. No stitches luckily but It was so funny. I love you so much and hope that ya’ll had a good and successful, and spiritual week as I have had. God Bless

Love always Your Missionary

New Address in Clarksville

Well im moving out tonight to another apartment. so i will have a new address. I know for sure im not getting transferred. but here is the new address.

126A West Concord Dr.
Clarksville, TN 37042

Crazy week!

HI mom, well to start off i love you very much and i love everything you give me especially the support. I have done a lot of finding this week. Finding out who i am, why i'm here and what kind of example i need to be. Sorry about the negative comments about the comp. I was really being selfish. I finally figured out that its about the Lord and not about me. I have prayed much and i have figured out what it means to be a MISSIONARY. i promise everything i write or send with be positive no matter what. I'll make sure to send that tape home so you can hear my Voice.
This week has been NUTZ! So much has happened. So first of all it was a very good and successful week. We have 10 new investigators, 4 progressing and one with a date. Next the sisters got kicked out of their apartment this week so they needed a place to live, well president put us in another apartment with another set of missionaries and the sister got our apartment. The place we live in is tiny.We live in a room the size of dads office. So little. NExt thing is there has been a lot of confusion going on. So ill start off with my comp and president. Someone had told president Hutchings that my comp had been talking crap behind his back and that my comp was aspiring leadership and that president was only doing things just so he could get higher up with the brotheren in the Seventy. Well president found out and was pissed. Then MY ZL was talking crap behind my comps back and my comp found out so they had beef. Then last night, President came to the apartment and had a little sit down with me, my comp, 2 other missionaries, the ZL's and an AP. They didn't leave the apartment til 11:00 Pm and we didn't get home til midnight almost and then the ZL's stayed the night and we didn't go to bed til like 2:00 am. Im so tired. But everything went well last night and i was the only one to get a hug from president. IT was kinda cool. but amber is getting baptized on sunday. We are having a member do it so that when we leave she will still have other people to rely on than just us two. So other than that this week has been off the hook busy. I love missionary work. it is so much fun. i'll let you know when transfers are over if anything happens to me or my comp. I love ya'll so much and thank you for the shorts. I love you so much and everthing is going to work out for the better.

My boring week!

Hi there, This week was really boring. Not a whole lot going on. IT was a really long week and im having a lot of comp issues. I don't know if i told you or not but we did in fact set a date with amber. She is getting baptized on the 5th of September. Im really stoked about that. We have a few new families that we are teaching. A Samoan family and a Jamaican Family. They both are incredible. The Samoan family gave me and E' Lava lava. ITs so nice. Its from Samoa. So today for P-Day we got to go on Fort Campbell Military Base and take a tour of the BlackHawk and the chanook helicopters. That was so much fun. Our whole district got to do it. Im sending my card home this week. It has like 200 pics on it so ya. I think next week we are planning on going golfing on Post(base). That will be sicky. I went on exchanges with one of the Zone Leaders this week for 3 days. That was so much fun. We got more done than me and my comp have in the last month. They were seeing if I would be capable of taking over the area and I got a thumbs up. So hopefully I get a new comp and stop being a greenie! its sucks being trained. I still get treated like a little kid and that drives me insane. We also had interviews this week with president. That was good. I got an excellent on the planner. IM a "preachmygospel missionary" he said. We mostly talked about lake powell and we reminissed about life back home. It was really fun but other than that nothing happened. Hope ya'll had a good week.

Hi Ho Hi Ho... It's off to work I go

Hi MOm and family
THis week has gone by really fast. Im not in an emailing mood for some reason today but ill write you guys cuz i love ya'll. So pretty much the amackers baptism is post-poned for another week. Tiffany started smoking again so that is not good. But i got a lot of faith in her and i have prayed day in and day out, night and day for her and her family. I know they will come around. But we have a golden investigator now. She is so awesome. Amber Jarnigan is her name. We are setting a date with her today. She has a blind son who is seven. HE is hilarious. The only reason she comes to church is cuz scott(her blind son) loves primary. So that is really good. This week has been crazy. Friday morning i got a call at 5:00 am. IT was elder Whiting. He was in agonizing pain. We went over to his house and he called the mission doctor to see what he should do. The doctor told us to take him to the ER. He had apendisitus. We spent all-day friday in the ER. He spent a couple of nights in the hospital and now he is in the mission home recovering. He is doing so good and he will be back to work in 1 week. I have been sick this week. Its so lame. but everything is going amazing.
Im so so so so jealous that you are going to lake powell. ha ha I got to catch a few glimps's of the olympics. We were teaching this 475 lb guy tommy. He is HUGE. but he would not turn off the olympics for anything so i watch guys volleyball and Kerry walsh and Misty May-Treanor play. THey are ridiculously good. Thats cool Taylor is home. Im not one bit jealous. Me and him talked a little but through email and he sent me a bunch of ties like 2 months ago. Can you believe i have been out for almost 3 months. Time is zipping by. Thats so sweet that you and all the moms hang out. Thats gotta be a lot of fun. and you and jodi are gonna kill at bowling. that will be so fun. I think i get to go to the temple next month so im really really excited for that. I miss going. I think i took the temple for granted a little bit. but i will cherish every moment that im there. I love getting packages. i have SO much candy stocked up. im pretty sure it will last another month. but i have gotten all the packages so far. did you want me to send the player and the tape home or just the tape? I love hearing you guys talk. It was a lot of fun hearing everyone. But i love you so so so so so much and i appreciate everything you do for me! Love your missionary

My latest pic!

That was crazy. i had to train everyone includin' president Hutchings on 3 Nephi 13:19-25. everyone was takin' notes and i was freakin' out and shakin'. it was good though

Hi Momma

HI momma
This week so so amazing. The work here in clarksville is boosting. our zone in august will have i think like 15 baptisms. ITs so sweet. so we taught Tiffany and Philip the Word of Wisdom. Its was so scary. Tiffany hasn't smoked anything in 6 days or drank coffee or tea. She is solid. Philip has no desire to stop smoking but tiffany and cheyene are still gonna get baptized even if philip wont right now. Hopefully he will see the importance of being sealed together forever. We had a lady named Amber come to church with her blind son Scott. She said she would come only if people would be nice to her son and if anything felt outta place she was going to leave. Her son loved church and he asked mom if they could come back and she said yes. He sang to me the other day. He sang "i can only imagine" by mercy me. I started to cry. It was so touching. So about the package not getting to me. It has been sitting in the office for like 13 days. How lame is that. Sister Blackwell is getting it for me tommorow because she works in the same complex. But i will have it tommorrow so no worries. This next week is gonna be boomin. We have so many set appointments and we have no time to contact or anything. Time is starting to go by faster and faster. Its kinda weird but ya. I love being out here. Its so much fun. On wednesday we are donating blood. I cant wait. I love giving blood. Well me and my comp are getting along ok but i have been praying hard every night so that we can get along good the next day. THe other day he made me so mad trying to be funny and not giving me the phone so i could call president. It was driving me insane. But we're all good now. I love you so much. How was your week? Anything exciting going on this week? ha ha Tell hilary congrats for me. She is such an amazing girl. Give parker my love and tell both of them ill send a letter this week. I got the news letter, thanks so much. sounds like everyone is doing good. i always have nutso weeks. Oh wait everyweek is like that. we always have so much going on we forget to see some people or do service. But we are getting setteled down. President is putting a lot of pressure on the mission right now. Me and him are always talking about things concerning the mission. He is such a great president. We cant watch tv on our missions. Its against the rules but you are more than welcome to keep me posted on them. I would really love that. My bike is all fixed and good. I did a tune up on it myself. It runs so good now. It would have cost another 55 dollars to get a tune up. YEAH RIGHT I love you guys so muchwell i love you. One LoveYour Missionary

Stupid Dog!

Hi mom
Last week was really cool. Amackers have a baptism date for the 24th of August so its coming up pretty quick we just need to teach them the word of wisdom first and then everything will be all swell. They are so amazing. I love them so much. So we were over at their house on friday and we were teaching her a lesson and after we were done talking to her, tiffany looked at cheyenne and asked her if she wanted to be baptized in "mom and dads church", that one blew me away. We hadn't asked cheyenne to be baptized yet because she wasnt home when we asked tiffany and philip. I was so happy when she asked cheyenne that. cheyenne said that she had already been baptized before. We asked her if she wanted to be in 1st place, 2nd place or 3rd place. Of course she said 1st place. Well we explained to her the kindoms of heaven and the celestial kindom is "1st place" so to speak and we told her that she had to be baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to be in 1st place and then she told us that she would be baptized. That one really got her good. Well nothing too exciting happened this week except i biffed on my bike. Not bad just both of my tires are bent. Biking at night is so scary around here. A pit bull made me wreck but I chased him off. So today i have to go buy new tire frames or see if they can fix them for me. The work is going so good out here. time is not taking forever anymore. ITs pretty much just coasting by. I havent gotten any packages yet. its kinda weird. The mail system in clarksville is kinda ghetto. Ill pray that it gets here soon. well i love you and the family so much. Hilary that is so cool that you got into alta. I prayed for you that you would. Its kinda interesting out here what you learn. i have learned to live off prayer. anything you need, as long as you ask in faith you will recieve. I love you so much hilary. Parker, how is the new job coming? Making good money at all? well keep your head on your shoulders and keep your head up. I love you so much Park. I love you mom with all my heart.

2 month mark

hi mommy

So everything is all good with the home sick business. I figured if i wasnt a little homesick, then that would mean that i don't love you guys and thats definately not the case. but on saturday we set a baptism date with tiffany and philip and cheyenne amacker and they all accepted. Its going to be the 22nd of August so im pretty stoked about that. we have been working so hard with them and now its finally paying off. this week was really fast. yesterday President Hutchings and his wife spoke in our sacrament meeting. They did such a good job and they send their love and appreciation to you and the family for coming to their farewell. So their son is on a full time mission in New York and he got really sick so he had to go live with them and now he is in the mission home doing full time work in our area. its the first time in church history that that has happened. and i also passed the sacrament in the spanish ward. That was weird. Im not getting transferred for at least another 3 months. so no worries here. Elder Beck leaves tomorrow for Dickson so that will be weird. Me and my comp are still together. So when i told you it was 95 and 93 humidity that was at like 10ish. around 1 o'clock it was 104 degrees and 97 percent humidity and we were on bikes. i wanted to pass out and lay in shade. ha ha So clarksville is pretty okay for the most part. we are not allowed to go down providence BLVD after dark because there are gangs down there and we will get shot so we stay away from there. President has been in our area a few times. I love the guy. me and him talked on the phone for like 20 minutes the other night just discussing the concerns i had about splitting the district and some other stuff. I was so nice to be able to talk to him. my comp is still annoying but ill get over him. but he will be gone next transfer and ill get someone new. but this week will be so good.today is my 2 month mark. Thats weird. but have a good week. I love you so so so so much and no i didn't get the cookies yet. love ya'll

so i don't know if you got my letter. the computer is being lame. well this week we set 3 baptism dates with the amackers and that will be on the 22nd of August. PResident and his wife spoke in our sacrament yesterday. They did so good. ITs still realy hot and humid. im not getting transferred either is my comp but elder beck is gone. sad sad day. but im being kicked off the computer im sorry if you didn't get it mail me if you didn't and ill write you a long letter look how fat i am in this picI love you so so much and you mean the world to me.

The white people are melting out here!

Hi Best Friend

Everything is just dandy. I got really home sick yesterday though. It was way discouraging this week. I miss hanging out with all the boys and you guys and everything was just not going good but ill be fine. Time is starting to go a little faster. So everything is going good with tiffany and her family. They came to church with us yesterday and everything is all peachy. we are going to set a baptism date with her this weekend so pray for that to go well. We have 1 new investigator. She is so happy. Her name is Sherinza smiley. How ironic is her last name. So i have some crazy news for you. I got to baptize a girl named Alex yesterday. She is like 25 and her husband is deployed. The sisters taught her and asked if I would baptize her and of course I said yes. It was so much fun. Here are some of the pics from that. Im so glad that you and Liz hung out. Anyway if you see her soon tell her im praying for her dad and that I'm so so sorry that happened. I miss having home-made ice cream. That sounds so good right now. It 95 degrees and 93 percent humidity. THE WHITE PEOPLE ARE MELTING OUT HERE! ha ha but it is so flippin hot. So word on the street says I'm a good ball player. I got a call to see if I wanted to go ball it up in Hopkinsville Kentucky. I'm definately going to play. So ya thats crazy that brian and jared leave soon. like two days soon. And Brent is gone gone gone. Its so wierd. I finally got in touch with Mitch and we are writing each other and me and Ryan write each other a lot. havent heard from greg in a while. kinda weird but oh well right? Thats good Hilary went back to smart girl hair. Blonde was cute but brunette on her is gorgeous. How are you doing? Are you holding up okay and keeping yourself pretty busy. What are you going to do when hilary is at school and parker is at work? you should go bowling ha ha bet Ryans mom would love that. Next time you see Trey tell him to write me back and tell me how his patriarchal blessing went okay?! Ill make sure to tag pictures before I send them home. But I love you so so so so so so so much and I hope everything goes good this next week. Tell them fam i love them.

Crazy week!

HI there Mom things are going so good here. This week went by so fast i couldn't believe it was over. I only have two weeks til the end of transfers. Times are starting to fly by. So there are a couple of things this week that were bad and some that were awesome. We will start out with the bad so i can leave you on a positive note. So yesterday we had tiffany and her family at church for the 3rd time. We were so happy. All of a sudden during sacrament they got up and left and they looked freakin angry. well after sacrament i went to call them to see what happened. She said that the guy behind her said and i quote "those kids don't listen very well do they" end quote. she has a lot of trust issues with churches and people judging her. That hit the soft spot for her so she left. that made me so angry. what 4 and 6 year olds listen during sacrament anyway. the next thing was i had to speak in sacrament meeting yesterday. So lame. I spoke for 20 minutes on why its important to prepare for a mission. Oh and on wednesday i had to train my district for 15 minutes on charity. That was a lot easier than speaking in church. That was so long but it went okay. Okay the good things. MY comps mom wrote me and sent me 20 bucks. I was so happy and she told me not to share with him cause he spends too much of her money anyway. so last P-day was amazing. It was one of those right place right time days. So we went up to kentucky state line to see some people. well both people we went to see had moved prior to us going to see them. We were bummed out. Well this car pulled up and they said we needed to go teach his daughter that discussios. We were so pumped. He said he had been looking for us all day. so we went over and taught her the first lesson. So good. Let see i got to go on exchanges with elder beck. so me and him were comps for like 3 days. It was pretty sweet. So everything has been rolling pretty good and im sending home pics soon i promise. IM going spulunking today with my district. We are going to dunbar caves so that will be fun and ill take pics for you there.I love you and please keep writing and emailingLove YOur missionary

Here are some pics of me and my comp. He is the one on the very right in the picture of the four kids. the other two are just third ward elders and this is me at the kentucky border.
Love you guys

This week has been really Hard. We didn't get a lot done cuz of Zone Conference, The 4th. Tiffany and here WHOLE family came to church with us yesterday. That was the second time for her and her kids. It was the first time her husband came with her. It was really good and they really like church. Shanelle went outta town so she wasn't able to attend. The 4th was so sweet. we had the entire day off and we didn't have to dress up or anything. We got to stay out with members til about 9:30 so that was nice. We just hung out as a district in the morning. We played basketball, football, mexican football ha ha soccer and frisbee. It was pretty fun. People are still shooting off illegal fireworks. They are so crazy. Dad thats so cool that you won the jacket. Im so Jealous. Elder beck is doing good. he lives like a mile from me but we just share the car. Me and him will be together for 3 days this week fro exchanges. its gonna be sweet. IT was so nice to hear from nathan smith. He is so amazing and will you tell him thanks and hi for me when you see him. IM gonna see a doctor today for my finger. Its hurtin pretty bad. So pretty much my comp is driving me insane. He is letting his true side show and it is really feminine. Its so creepy. NO baptism dates yet but we are giving one to tiffany this week so that should be good. Keep her and her family in your prayers. but i dont need anyhting really. Maybe more mambas but other than that im doing good. I love you guys and I'll talk to you next monday.

Hey there!

Hi Mom and Family,
THis last week was so slow with my companion being so sick and all but i gave him a blessing so we will see what happens. I dont know his parents name and his name is Mitch. The bike riding is coming okay. We get the car this week starting wednesday so that will be really nice. This friday we get the entire day off for the 4th of july so that will be so awesome. Thats fun Hilary went to efy with shelby. Those poor mormon Boys ha ha. Did she have fun? That sounds like a really good week. Glad you guys are keeping really busy and im glad that you won in bunko. I love all the mambas i get from you guys. No one out here knows what they are so keep sending. well the bad news is that mike dropped us completely but Tiffany who is philips wife came to church with her 3 kids and they loved primary so they are coming back next sunday. And then this girl named shanelle also came to church for her first time. And she too is coming back. so yesterday was such a good day for me. There are the Coolest elders and sisters in my district. There is Elder Beck from alpine and HIs companion Elder Whiting, Elder Tapana and elder Contraras, Sister Ford and sister williams, Elder Keeler and Elder Davis and THe senior Couple Elder and Sister Jepson. We were in the mission office for only like 2 hours but it was fun.The mission home is like a mansion. Its so pretty and its really oldstyle and the Lords (current President) are amazing but they are back home now and now we have the Hutchings (new President). We will get to see them because of zone conference on Thursday but I called them to just welcome them to the neighborhood. They will do some amazing work while they are here. I hope we get a baptism next week. Pray for us and our investigators.I love you guys and hope you are being safe.

Handwritten letter home! Got it on Monday 6/30

Hey family,
Just thought I would write I have some time tonight. Today was so good for the last couple days me and my companion were really sick but today was so good. We had to drop this guy named Mike. I'm so frustrated with him. But we were teaching this black girl Chenelle and we told her we didn't want her to believe us because we were telling here to, but to pray about it and out of no where she said she believed us and she is coming to church with us on Sunday. I have faith she will be baptized so keep her in your prayers.
Last night we had the worst dinner of my life. The lady we ate with is less active, her husband is a chain smoker and her sons look like bounty hunters. Pretty crazy. They are a German family. We had this egg salad with at least 30 eggs, 1 bottle of mustard and 1 bottle of mayo and then some of the egg shells were in it. We had the bowl of cucumbers with what looked like toliet water and sour cream mixed together. So Nasty and then we had burnt bratts. The only thing safe to eat was 15 year old ice cream with ice crystals all over it. I'm scared to ever go back there. Tonights dinner was really good though. We had our own personal hens. They were outstanding. Something funny happened. Some guy tried to fight me when I knocked on his door. He said alst time "we" came over we didn't leave til his wife asked us three times. He said the F-word like 10 times. Me and my comp laughed about it forever. Tonight we needed to reach our goal of 50 contacts but we only had 20 and it was already 8:00 p.m. so we went to Wal-mart and got them there. They throw us out if we get caught so we stay away from guys in yellow jackets. AKA: The bees... it's a fun game. I get to email Monday but my P-day is Friday because of the 4th of July. We get the whole day off Friday so I'm happy about that. But I love you guys so much I thought I would just let you know what's going on. Keep in touch. Oh and Grandma sent me some cookies and mamba's. They were so good. I love you Mom, Dad & Hilary & Parker & Scout & Maxi.
Love, Elder Schwendiman

I'm picking up Spanish good too. We have Spanish elders in my district.

Wow! First week out here...

Hi Mom
I have like 2 hours on my p-day to email. so i have a lot of time. This week went by pretty slow but it was okay. Two days ago we were contacting people and we found this family and out of no where my comp was like hey will you watch a movie with us. He invited us in and we watched the restoration with him. We gave him and his family a book of mormon but his native tongue is tagalog( philipino). It was really cool. we are getting him a tagalog book of mormon today and we will go over there tomorow. Im so happy for curtis. He is such a cool kid. thats gonna be a crazy mission for him. Tell jared holly congrats for me. and tell parker and steve hey for me. I love teaching people about the gospel. it makes the day so much better when you get to share your testimony with random people and talk about joseph smith and the restoration. It builds up my testimony up everyday for sure. Give jeremy my new address and tell him to write as well as my other friends and give them my email for when they get out on their missions i can keep in contact. Hows hilary doing. Is she doing anything useful with her time or being a bum like she is supposed to be in the summer? Is she playing any volleyball soon. We are playing racquetball with a member today on the military base so thats gonna be so sweet. They have no idea whats gonna hit em. JK. i still havn't gotten a letter from her. It takes a while to get them when everything comes from the mission office and they have to forward everthing so try and send everything to my new address. My comp is great. we have a lot of fun but we get done what needs to get done thats whats so great. Tell Tanya hi for me and the whole metcalf family. I just wanna let you know with all of my heart that this church is true and that joseph smith is a true prophet and he did truly see god the father and his son and he did speak to them. I know the power of the atonement and the effect it has to change someones life. Keep me in your prayers and ill do the same. Love you and talk to you next week.

Dallin's New Address

Elder Dallin Schwendiman
880 PeachersMill Road #8
Clarksville, TN 37042

Thursday, June 19, 2008

Hi Family,
Everything is going so good. I have the coolest trainer. His Name is Elder Rasmussen from Murray Utah. HE is the sweetest kid ever and we get along really good together. Elder Allen Beck from alpine is in my district. ha ha he is so funny. We share a car with him but they ran up the miles so we have been on bikes all day everyday but its so enjoyable. We rode at least 40 miles on tuesday.I love teaching here. Its SO SO HOT, but its so much fun. We are meeting with this guy phillip and his wife. He was really drunk and was smoking a Stogey but when we started talking to him about joseph smith he threw it away and didn't smoke at all while we were teaching. His wife was really interested when i was explaining the apostacy to her and how the church came back through joseph Smith. I hope you are all doing well. Monday is my p-day but they are letting me email today. President and Sister Lords are so amazing. They are so spiritual and so loving. They remind me of You mom and dad. So my new address is 880 PeachersMill Road #8 Clarksville, TN 37042. We are in an area called Clarksville. Its really ghetto and we go to trailer parks sometimes but everyone is really nice almost. We get the F word sometimes when people drive past us and there is a lot of ghetto rap musik here with a lot of F words to. I just laugh at them because i know their salvation. ha ha that was mean sorry. we get fed really good here and the members are so nice to us. We do a lot of street contacting and door contacting. We met with a guy named mike. There is not a lot going on upstairs(His head). He is not really there but he has really "high Hopes" as he puts it but he doesn't know what they are yet. He is like forty and he said he was sick of being a slave to his dad at a furniture store so he quit. He worked their for 8 years without a single paycheck. There are so many people here who are in the army. There is an army base here and everyone goes there and works their. They call it POST. A lot of them are in IRAQ right now so we can only talk to the wives on the porch. So greg is doing really good he likes it there and says he is in the ghetto of ghetto's. ha ha. I don't need anything at the moment but if i think of anything i will let you know. I love you all so much and i put my blessing upon you at all times. Keep me in your prayers and ill do the same.

Oops I fractured my finger!

So pretty much it is so hard to type with two of my fingers stuck together. My middle finger got rocked in basketball and you probably know i have a little bone chip fracture. Nothing bad but i knew it was going to happen. I have been wanting to write you all week but we can only write on P-days. Gotta keep the mission rules. ha ha So how are things going. i love everything that you are sending me. I smile whenever i get that little colored slip which means i have a package and automatically i know its you. I love you so much for that. so pretty much i fly out on monday and i get to call you guys when i get the the airport. Im way excited to talk to you guys. Its gone by really fast. Missionary work is so much fun. I love teaching but my companions struck my last nerves the last time we taught. One of my companions thought he would try and teach the whole second lesson which he pretty much did and he BUTCHERED IT!!!! He was bringing up all the wrong questions and things that should have been saved for a different lesson. Yesterday was the worst day yet. I love teaching though when i get the chance. i am learning so much.

There is the coolest elder in my hall that i live in. Grant Fawson. Me and him stayed up the other night til 2:00 am. I was so nice to just talk and to just let everything out. I love being a missionary. i love wearing the little name tag and the image that it represents. Greg and Robby are gone and i wont see them for quite some time. Im sending home my card of pictures so will you guys print all the ones of me and my friends. any that have any of my friends in it i want them. even the ones at the MTC okay. Ill email you when i get to Nashville and send you my new address. Thank you so much for everything that you have givin me.

Mom and Dad letter June 3, 2008

Hi Mom and Dad,

I love the MTC so much. I have seen 21 people I know already. Its so much fun in here. On Monday I got to teach a family of 4 about the restoration. It was so fun. We talked about the lesson for 40 minutes. That's the longest I have given a lesson yet. Monday Night we got to call people on the phones and talk to them about the church and share our testimonies with them. I bore my testimony to Paulette on the phone and she started to cry. And then she said what I was saying was what she was looking for so I sent the Missionaries to her house. I love doing real missionary work like that. My companions are driving me insane. I feel like a babysitter when I'm in class but on Fast Sunday I fasted for Heavenly Father to help me understand them and for him to help me love them and I think it's working. I love the packages you send me and the letters I get. Those donuts are amazing and the MuddyBuddies are so good. Thanks for all the little things I forgot. Well I don't have much time to write. I love you both mom and dad. You two have done so much for me and I appreciate that so much. Write back soon.

Elder Schwendiman's first letter home

We got Dallin's first letter today! Sounds great doesn't he?

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

Arrived at the MTC

Dallin went to the MTC today at 1:00 p.m.! We (Parker, Hilary, Mom, and Dad) went to Pizza Factory in Orem for lunch and then over to the MTC. We were seated on the front row in the chapel and joined with all the other families in singing "Called to Serve". The MTC President and his wife spoke and then we watched the same video that Todd and I both watched when we went to the MTC and then we said (more like cried) our goodbyes to Dal.

He looked great and he was so excited to see all his friends! As he left us, we watched him walk over to the missionary who gave the opening prayer, shook his hand and introduced himself. He's going to be just fine. We are so proud of Dallin and we are so looking forward to getting his first letter. Thanks to everyone for your support in getting his to this point. We love you... and Dallin!
